Lines of Tribe – A Documentary About Interracial Marriage
After the success of Modern Day Slaves in 2010 -an expose of the deplorable treatment of undocumented immigrants in different countries – Unarce’s GTC Films have embarked on another cinematic voyage of great social significance. This time the subject is interracial relationships.
Here are his thoughts about his work:
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT-
“As part of this shrinking world, people easily communicate with other at a low cost, and are able to travel with relative ease to many worldwide destinations. This gradual fading of barriers to communication and contact lends itself well to higher rates of Interracial Marriages. While we are not here to advocate interracial marriage, we recognize it as a growing fact of life in the twenty first century. How great a role will interracial and inter ethnic marriages play in dissolving cultural barriers and resolving age-old hatreds? It is impossible to predict. Some marriages will succeed and others fail, but even the attempt, affects families and communities. Successful marriages reach across .dividing lines to achieve communication, cooperation and understanding –exactly what our world needs to face current and future challenges. We encourage the viewers of Lines of Tribe to challenge assumptions, keep an open mind and continually question not only the nature of interracial marriage, but also the nature of what an ideal world would, or could be the blurring of the Lines of Tribe will be frightening to some people, but perhaps the old limits the old hatreds the old tears will gradually give way to wider horizon of hope, courage and prosperity for our world and all its inhabitants.”
