News and history from the world of film and video are eagerly followed by film buffs all over the world these days. From the grainy, voiceless and too-fast “moving pictures’ that amazed and delighted movie-going audiences of 125 years ago to the technology-driven artistry of Pixar Studios, the first century + of film making has brought us to the point where – often through a combination of CGI and “live” action – what we see onscreen is a thing of artistic splendor.

Booksandmocha is pleased to bring you news and history from/about the world of film as well as film reviews by Jessica Ploumis. From news about what’s on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and cable – as well as in your neighborhood movie theater – we are delighted to share our love of film with our readers. We plan to add more interviews with film and video makers as well as discussions of a more general nature, such as how technology – HiDef, big screens, 4k, etc. – is rapidly affecting all aspects of production – not to mention our aesthetics.
